John Doonan, Director, Mazda Motorsports, Mazda North American Operations, noted that, “The reaction to our B-Spec program has been fantastic from racers, media, and multiple sanctioning bodies. We can’t wait to see the grids grow this year on both the professional and club racing level. We feel that we have helped create the next generation of affordable showroom stock racing.”
Steve Sanders, Competition Manager, MAZDAPEED Motorsports added, “We believe that we have given the aspiring racer a great new option, the most affordable showroom stock class in North America. A racer can buy a brand-new completed racecar from a variety of shops for about $25,000, or do it themselves with a used car for as little as $15,000. They need three things; a new or used Mazda2 street car, the B-Spec parts kit, and a roll-cage and safety equipment.”
