Segal and Lu Claim Two Podiums in Lime Rock

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – Memorial Day weekend brought a pair of podium finishes at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut for the TR3 Racing duo of Jeff Segal and Wei Lu, who are chasing a Pirelli World Challenge Sprint-X championship in their Ferrari.

The Lime Rock races represented the fifth and six Sprint-X rounds of the Pirelli World Challenge season. Wei Lu and Jeff Segal, drivers of the No. 31 TR3 Racing / Ferrari of Vancouver Ferrari 488 GT3, arrived at Lime Rock in third place in the Pro-Am division of the GT class.

Lu qualified in third position in class and seventh position overall for the first race, held on Monday morning. After a trouble-free run Lu turned the car over to Segal for the run to the checkered, and Segal was able to make a pass for second position in the closing stages of the race.

The second race of the weekend, held on Monday afternoon just a few hours after the first race, saw Segal start the race in third position and seventh overall. While they remain third in the championship, they have closed the gap to the second-placed car.

“It was a good weekend for us,” said Lu. “Lime Rock is a very hard place to pass and we didn’t have enough track time to get the car set up exactly the way we wanted, so I’m glad we came away from the weekend with two podiums and still in a good position in the championship.”

“We came out of Lime Rock with two podiums, which is fantastic, but we can’t help but be a little bit disappointed,” said Segal. “We got a taste of victory earlier in the year and we want more of that. It was good for the points but we obviously have some work to do in the final two events of the season. We struggled with understeeer throughout the weekend but despite that we had a good car – we were only a tenth of a second of second place. But at Lime Rock track position is everything, so we took advantage where we could. We are looking to get back to the top step at Portland, which is the home track for Ferrari of Vancouver.”

The PWC races from Lime Rock Park will be broadcast on CBS Sports on Sunday, June 3 at 2:00 PM ET.

Segal and Wu will compete next at the Rose Cup Races at Portland International Raceway in Portland, Oregon which is the next PWC round that will feature Sprint-X.

Daniel Mancinelli will compete in the TR3 Racing Ferrari at the next PWC Sprint round at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on June 22-24.
