De La Torre’s Full Throttle Comeback

After an unfortunate accident at Lime Rock this past May, driver/owner Jorge De La Torre was forced to take a pause from racing. To everyone’s surprise, De la Torre racing has announced and confirmed Jorge´s returned to the PWC GT season Finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Therapists and doctors said he wouldn’t be able to race again for the 9-12 months following the accident due to his injuries. “I was determined to return to racing,” Jorge explained. It has been a difficult journey for De La Torre these past few months from physical rehabilitation to mental drain, but his rehabilitation was made possible by his driver traits that are hard wired into his character.

He pushed his body and mind to the limits, from giving his first few steps out of the hospital to pushing himself to run 2-3 miles daily after rehabilitation; Jorge worked hard through every rehabilitation session to get back on track as soon as possible. In addition, Jorge continued to strive for recuperation short after testing his Aston Martin GT3 with still healing fractures. Three months later Jorge is set to perform at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca as someone who is driven and will push himself to his highest capability.

“The crash has made me a stronger person and has definitely been the hardest thing I’ve had to go through in my life. Racing Laguna is definitely a challenge but the team and I have been putting continuous hours of preparation. I´m going to give all I’ve got in this upcoming race as well as shooting for the best results possible, however, my ultimate goal is to pick up momentum for next year´s plans.

See you at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca!”
