BERG Racing prepares for the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge Championships with a two-car Audi RS 3 LMS USA Clubsport program for the increasingly popular Touring Car class

Webster, NY – BERG Racing returns to the Pirelli World Challenge Championships with a two-car full-season Audi RS 3 LMS USA Clubsport effort in the fan-favorite Touring Car class. The #009 Micro Precision Components Audi RS 3 LMS will be piloted by JT Coupal of Rochester, New York, while the REDCOM Laboratories, Inc. #007 Audi RS 3 LMS will be piloted by John Allen of Denver, Colorado.

Looking forward to a two-day balance of performance test at the Virginia International Raceway, team owner John Weisberg believes the 2017 TC-class season should be incredibly competitive.

“We’re looking forward to our first two days on track with our Audi RS 3 LMS race cars,” said Weisberg. “We’re quite impressed with the car thus far, and our drivers are very happy with the way the program is maturing. We can’t wait to debut the cars in TC later this April!”

REDCOM Laboratories, Inc. continues in 2017 as title sponsor of BERG Racing, citing renewed interest in the Touring Car class.

“To be able to add the factory-supported Audi effort to the team is a tremendous accomplishment for both BERG Racing and REDCOM Laboratories, ” remarked Dinah Weisberg, President of REDCOM. “We’re very excited to return to the Pirelli World Challenge Championships, and feel that the new machinery in TC should add interest to the already fan-favorite class, while also enhancing the exposure for us as a sponsor.” John and Dinah Weisberg will join select Touring Car rounds this season in the #5 and #50 REDCOM Laboratories Mazda MX-5s, respectively.

John Allen and JT Coupal feel comfortable with the new TCR spec cars, with both coming off of a successful debut at the Dubai 24H in a SEAT Leon TCR. Coupal and Allen expect the qualities of TCR to carry over into the TC class of the Pirelli World Challenge in 2017.

“John Allen and I got quite a bit of mileage under our belts from our podium-finishing SEAT outing in Dubai,” Coupal said. “The SEAT Leon TCR is the same fundamental platform as the Audi RS 3 LMS, so that should definitely aid us as the start of the season nears.”

John Allen, a past Pirelli World Challenge competitor, joins the Touring Car class with hopes of an equally successful 2017 campaign.

“There is so much excitement surrounding the debut of the Audi RS 3 LMS,” said Allen. “I’m really looking forward to debuting at VIR in April – it should be an absolute riot to hop into a factory-built car. We expect the Audi to be on-pace immediately, and hope to give the fans a great show with our new cars!”

In a professional season of firsts for the 16-year-old junior at the Allendale Columbia School, JT Coupal also sees family enterprise Micro Precision Components of Bloomfield, New York join the #009 Audi program.

“We’re delighted to have MPC represented in the Pirelli World Challenge,” said Bob Coupal, President of Micro Precision Components. “Sponsoring the #009 Audi RS 3 LMS entry is a natural progression for us. We had tremendous success with our MPC Spec Miata program in SCCA Club Racing, but we’re ready for the next step up to Pirelli World Challenge competition!”

Micro Precision Components has a long and successful history of supplying high-precision components for the automotive industry. Coupal feels that the Pirelli World Challenge exposure will prove beneficial to MPC.

“The great national marketing exposure Pirelli World Challenge provides will help us connect with new customers, as well as strengthen the relationships with our current base,” added Coupal. “We’re looking forward to our professional racing debut at Virginia International Raceway next month!”

Stay tuned to BERG Racing and Pirelli World Challenge for the latest news and information about Touring Car rounds one and two at Virginia International Raceway, April 28-30, 2017.
