Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – Caesar Baccarella and Martin Fuentes kept their Sprint-X Am win streak alive with a pair of victories during the Pirelli World Challenge races held during Memorial Day weekend at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut.
The two Sprint-X GT races, both held on Monday, saw Baccarella and Fuentes win the Am division. Fuentes had previously enjoyed success at Lime Rock Park, but for Baccarella it was his first visit to the short and fast circuit. Despite having never seen the circuit before, Baccarella kept the No. 07 Garage Italia / Alpha Prime Ferrari 488 GT3 in a strong position in both races.
Fuentes, who drives the Ferrari during the Sprint rounds, remains in third position in the overall championship while he and Baccarella lead the Sprint-X Am division. Fuentes also leads the GT-A Sprint division.
“It was a very good weekend for my teammate, Caesar, and the whole TR3 Racing and Garage Italia team,” said Fuentes. “Lime Rock is a very complicated circuit due to the short length – fifty-three or fifty-four second per lap – and there are a lot of factors that make it really hard to pass so it’s one of the most challenging tracks that I’ve ever encountered. But we came out with a good result and in a good position in the championship.”
“I’m very happy with the results that we had at Lime Rock,” said Baccarella. “Thanks to Garage Italia, Alpha Prime and TR3 Racing, Martin and I had a car that did a great job on a very challenging circuit. I’m looking forward to the next Sprint-X race at Portland.”
The PWC races from Lime Rock Park will be broadcast on CBS Sports on Sunday, June 3 at 2:00 PM ET.
Fuentes will compete in the next PWC race weekend at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on June 22-24.l
