McAleer Leads Strong BMW Contingent in GTS SprintX Practice Friday at Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – Veteran Stevan McAleer of Coldspring, N.Y., led a strong BMW lineup at Portland International Raceway Friday in the GTS SprintX practice rounds for the 58th annual Rose Cup Roses featuring the Pirelli World Challenge.

McAleer, driving with Justin Raphael, drove his No. 17 Raphael & Associates/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 to the top time of the day with a one minute, 17.762 seconds at a speed of 91.20 miles per hour to lead the No. 92 ETF Global/CAO/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT sports car of former TC champion Toby Grahovec of Celina, Tex., teaming with Chris Ohmacht, with a 1:17.925 (91.01 m.p.h.). McAleer and Raphael compete in the Pro/Am class, with Grahovec and Ohmacht in the Am category for Saturday and Sunday’s 60-minute, two-driver races.

Third overall was two-time GTS SprintX race winner Jade Buford of Nashville, Tenn., co-driving with Scott Maxwell, in the No. 55 PF Racing Ford Mustang GT4 at 1:18.120 (90.78 m.p.h.) followed by John Miller of Orange, Calif., pairing with Aurora Straus, in the No. 36 ST Racing BMW M4 GT4 at 1;18.196 (90.69 m.p.h.), Drew Staveley of Salt Lake City, Utah, in the No. 12 Ian Lacy Racing Ginetta G55 at 1:18.208 (90.68 m.p.h.) and 18-year-old Harry Gottsacker of San Antonio, Tex., in the No. 69 Racers Edge SIN R1 at 1:18.221 (90.66 m.p.h.)

Following out the top-ten in the 34-car GTS SprintX field were Tony Gaples/Michael Cooper in the No. 11 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R at 1:18.227 (90.65 m.p.h.), Lawson Aschenbach/Andy Pilgrim in the No. 1 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R at 1:18.259 (90.62 m.p.h.), Preston Calvert in the No. 51 Team Panoz Racing Panoz Avezzano GT at 1:18.278 (90.60 m.p.h.) and Henry Schmitt/Greg Liefooghe in the No. 88 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4 at 1:18.280 (90.59 m.p.h.)

Qualifying for the GTS SprintX division is set for 10:50 a.m. PDT with the Round 7 race getting underway at 4:20 p.m. Sunday’s 60-minute GTS SprintX event will start at 11:55 a.m. PDT.
