Qualifying Set for 4:25 p.m. EDT Friday at 2.459-mile, 10-turn legendary circuit
BOWMANVILLE, Ont., Canada – Canadian Cameron Cassels of Coldstream, B.C., took his No. 018 Case-it Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR to the top position in Friday morning’s GTS presented by Case-it practice round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Cassels, listed in the GTS Am division, clocked a time of one minute, 24.550 seconds (104.70 miles per hour) over the famed 2.459-mile, 10-turn road circuit northeast of Toronto.
Local Toronto racer Anthony Mantella recorded the second quickest lap in his No. 8 Mantella Autosport KTM XBow GT4 with a 1:24.790 (104.40 mph) to lead the Pro class followed by Spain’s Rodrigo Baptista in the No. 3 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR at 1:24.807 (104.38 mph), Martin Barkey in the No. 80 Mantella Autosport KTM XBow at 1:24.921 (104.24 mph) and young (age 17) Nate Stacy in the No. 14 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR at 1:24.998 (104.14 mph).
Ranking second in the Am division Friday morning was veteran Tony Gaples in the No. 11 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Camaro GT4 at 1:25.669 (103.33 mph) followed by Aristotle Balogh in the No. 019 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M3 E46 at 1:25.878 (103.08 mph).
Qualifying for Touring Car at CTMP Friday is set for 4:25 p.m. EDT. The opening GTS race of the weekend will be Saturday at 10:35 a.m. and will be live streamed on www.motortrendondemand.com and www.world-challenge.com.
